A Georgia-based couple commissioned Vera Iconica Architecture, together with Beth Webb Interiors, to build a mountain house for family getaways in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Boasting unforgettable views of the Teton Range, the design blends modern and traditional elements with a fresh and timeless feel. Rugged steel meets heavy stone. Large windows take in views of the meadow, ponds, and out to the mountains.

Stone arches frame passageways as you wander from one space to the next, appreciating ceilings vaulted with hewn reclaimed timbers, blackened oak, floating stairs, and subtle plaster. Slurried limestone lends an ancient aesthetic to the walls. Throughout the home, the designer employed a calming palette of colors and textures through a curated selection of furnishings and finishes. Inviting Entryway

Stone archway entry hall with wooden console table, cowhide rug, and abstract black artwork

The goal of this expansive home was to create a family legacy retreat for the owners and their extended family and friends. It needed to work well for the two of them and for the whole family or a group of friends visiting.

Light & Airy Living Room

Large black-and-white abstract painting with dark ceramic cactus-form table lamp

The surrounding landscape set the bar, and the architect’s job was to match it from the inside out. Natural creeks running through the property inspired a series of water features and ponds, all designed to work with the existing wetlands and wildlife rather than against them. Inside, each room was carefully oriented to frame its own piece of the mountains, so the view is never the same twice.

What We Love About This Home

What strikes us most is how every detail from the slurried limestone walls to the arched doorways feels considered without feeling precious. The way the landscape literally meets the house, with native grasses growing right up to the stone, is just breathtaking. We love how, even though this home is spacious, the designer did a fabulous job of making every space feel warm and cozy. The palette never competes with the ever-changing views found throughout this incredibly beautiful family legacy home.
