Marie Flanigan Interiors has beautifully reimagined this 1990s ranch home designed by Chas Architects that overlooks Lake Travis, in the stunning Texas Hill Country. For this renovation project, the designer was inspired by renowned Belgian antique dealer and interior designer Axel Vervoordt. The designer wrote a book on Wabi-Sabi principles that he uses in his designs to create calm, peaceful spaces.
The homeowners sought to modernize their dwelling, which is nestled on a 200-acre property with a backdrop of the lake. They did not want to obstruct the landscape or erase the history of this cherished family gathering place. Inside you will find simplified details, organic textures, and an earthy color palette that harmonizes with the surroundings. Continue below to see the rest of this spectacular home…

The goal of the remodel was to harmonize old with new, infusing an elegant, relaxed vibe into the home. The designer incorporated 20-inch white oak plank floors and reclaimed wood ceiling beams, along with bluestone slabs into the interior. The walls are plaster, providing a timeworn feel.
