Our client approached us to design their forever home in West Bellevue a neighborhood in Bellevue, Washington. The resulting 4,900-square-foot modern custom home features clean lines, smart home features, and personalized spaces. Designed by Archius Architecture and built by Alair Kirkland, it combines elements of modern and minimal design to create a calming, functional, high-end family home.
The project features over 70 windows, skylights, and glazed doors to flood the home with natural light, even in the gray Pacific Northwest winters. Kentwood oak floors lend warmth to the neutral palate throughout the home. Continue below to see the rest of this home tour…
What We Love: This forever home was designed for family living with clean lines and modern details throughout. With attractive curb appeal, you are invited into this fabulous home where light-filled, spacious interiors await. We love the calming feel of this home’s material palette and color scheme along with the warmth of the wood flooring. The staircase adds a dramatic focal point, one of many distinctive details in this residence.

Note: Have a look at a couple of other incredible home tours that we have featured here on One Kindesign in the state of Washington: This modern beach house provides a cozy refuge in Washington State and An inviting modern refuge with the most scenic views of Lake Washington.
The dining area and kitchen are ideal for entertaining with ample cabinetry and counter space and specialty features like a walk-in pantry, a full-sized wine fridge at the beverage station, and a pass-through window to the outdoor kitchen.
La Cantina folding doors lead from the dining room to the covered patio with ceiling heaters for year-round use and the outdoor kitchen.
The stairs are equal parts function and art installation with mono-stringer supports and oak treads and soaring 28′ cathedral ceilings above.
At the top of the stairs, we designed a large and light-filled corridor connecting all the private family spaces.
A reading nook features a 12′ live edge walnut bench beneath a large window overlooking the garden.
The clients’ two daughters’ bedrooms are located on one side of the second floor with private balconies and a large, shared bathroom between their rooms.
The primary suite is located across the open corridor – close but private.
In the primary bathroom we chose walnut cabinets and dark gray wall tile for a dramatic look and to juxtapose the light polished tile used in the walk-in shower and soaking tub area.
In addition to the second-floor study/home gym and laundry room, there is a second guest room with a private balcony and ensuite. Both of the couple’s parents live abroad and often visit for extended periods. Dual guest suites ensure ample privacy for all family members during these visits.
Off the patio we included a separate dog wash to easily clean up the family goldendoodle before entering the home.
The exterior of the home features dark gray lap and panel siding as well as cedar tongue and groove.
