A Victorian home in New Jersey gets restored to its former glory

victorian-home-exterior

This Victorian home was originally built in 1891 and has undergone a complete transformation by Workshop/APD, located in Asbury Park, New Jersey. This is the personal family weekend retreat of the principal architect of the firm, who is based in Manhattan. The architect worked to preserve the inherent charm of the original structure while bringing it to its former glory.

Invoking Workshop/APD’s modern aesthetic, the space was thoughtfully opened up to create an authentic and inviting atmosphere. This involved incorporating lighter-toned woods and expansive windows, as well as removing certain walls that previously segmented the living areas.

By introducing rich hues along the stairwell and a captivating ribbon of color ascending the front of this 4,000-square-foot house, along with striking contrasts throughout the rooms, every corner of this dwelling captures attention and seamlessly draws the eye from the exterior to the interior.

The original owners of this house are spinning in their graves. OMG.

The exterior is beautiful, but I find the design ideas inside this home very confusing.

Looks like the interior was pretty much destroyed.
