Charming waterfront getaway gets a modern refresh in Gig Harbor

contemporary-waterfront-residence-exterior

This charming waterfront getaway was renovated by Michelle Dirkse Interior Design, located in the quaint maritime city of Gig Harbor, Washington. A family vacation home, the place was in need of a major overhaul, along with new furnishings and decor. The scope of this remodel project entails the following: adding a third bedroom within the existing footprint, improve the master bathroom layout, update the kitchen and refresh all of the finishes and fixtures.

To blend old with new, the designers preserved the original elements. This included the paneled walls, exposed beams and wood floor with bullet casing details while pairing them with modern flat front cabinets and a clean minimal soapstone fireplace. The new modern furniture is minimal yet comfortable while contrasting with the homeโ€™s architecture. To maintain the clean minimal look of the new fireplace, a low profile โ€œframe tvโ€ was installed above the gas insert.

Beautiful wood beams, stairway and rustic double doors. Fireplace feels too large and dark, as do the kitchen cabinets. The modern too dark flat style of the cabinetry just doesn’t seem the right fit for the house to me. It is lovely otherwise.

I would love information about the stools in this lovely house.
