Amber Interiors worked in collaboration with Think Martin Construction Company to redesign this beautiful home in Runyon Canyon, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. This was originally the dream house of the designer, who spotted this beauty while real estate stalking. Her dreams were crushed when the home came off the market, although logistically, this home was not practical for her family’s current lifestyle (work, school changes, etc.) — not to mention she was in the process of remodeling her own home! The designer had completely visioned the remodel of this dream home in her head, many times over.
So, luckily for the new homeowners, they coincidentally contacted her to help them with the remodel just a short time after their purchase! This home ended up with a major makeover, everything from changing the layout of several rooms to replacing ceilings, floors and installing new windows and doors. New tiles were installed in the bathrooms, including plenty of marble, fresh paint, you name it, they did it! This place needed lots of love and it was infused with plenty of it.
The family who purchased this canyon home are East Coast transplants. It was important for the designer to give their home a quintessential “Cali vibe”, yet keep a nod to the modern feel that they were used to. They wished for their home to be cozy, with a layering of textures and not a lot of clutter. They also desired to rid themselves of the modern, all-white New York apartment that they had previously resided in. The finished result offers an inviting, laid-back abode, boasting a mix of modern, moody, yet traditional all at the same time.
Above: In the living room, the designer removed the paneling from the original ceilings, added beams and painted everything the optimal white — “Milk Glass” by Dunn Edwards. To create a nice flow to the outdoors, windows flanking the fireplace were transformed into doors. The vision was to be able to open the doors on an idyllic Los Angeles evening, while watching the flickering of flames from the fireplace.
What We Love: This stunning dream house showcases an exquisite contrast of light and dark throughout. With the new configuration of windows and doors, the designer was able to capture the views of the canyon while helping to flood the interiors with natural light. This home’s newly revived living spaces offer a relaxed vibe that is quintessential California living for some East Coast transplants. Overall, this renovation project is simply gorgeous… what do you think? Do find find the remodel of this home to be a success (refer to the before pictures at the end of this home tour). Above: Although this space is full of windows, the designer opted out of window treatments. Since this home is nestled in a canyon, there is plenty of privacy. This allows for the interiors to be flooded with natural light. Overall, this space is clean, simple and inviting.

Above: The designer went with a moody vibe in the dining room, contrasting against the white backdrop of the kitchen. Since this home has plenty of natural light, the light helped to keep this space functional. Walls are painted in Benjamin Moore Amherst Grey. The Ozzie Dining Table is paired with vintage Magistretti Chairs and a vintage bench.
