Stunning eco-designed treehouse home

Located in the hills of Mill Valley, California, this natural custom designed home features amazing panoramic views. The hillside house was designed by San Francisco-based SB Architects, a prestigious international firm known worldwide for the design of site-sensitive resort and mixed-use projects across the globe, and built by well-known green builder McDonald Construction & Development, this home is a statement of what is possible combining “high design with high sustainability.”

This modern wooden house design is located just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco and has 2,116 square feet (interior spaces), 1,567 square feet (decks & balconies). It has just received certification as the first LEED for Homes Platinum custom home in Marin County, and one of only a handful in Northern California. The home is a three story building featuring a wine cellar and garage on the basement level and bedrooms and terraces on the first and second levels and on the third level is all the family living spaces, including an outdoor dining and living room. Interior designer Erin Martin decorated the home with antiques and reclaimed materials throughout. Numerous outdoor and covered terraces and balconies accentuate the treehouse feel and capitalize on stunning views of the bay and the San Francisco skyline beyond.

The home’s many green aspects includes, Western Red Cedar siding, Energy Star-Rated Whirlpool appliances, Kohler low-flow plumbing fixtures, Mythic zero-VOC paints, high-recycled content interior concrete from Concreteworks, sustainably produced stone veneers from Eldorado Stone, sustainably harvested floors and cabinetry from Plantation Hardwoods and New World Millworks, reclaimed timber and recycled metal roofing.

Beautiful and very tastefully executed! Love the contemporary design without some of the sterility you see in other homes of this nature.
