This beautiful wine country estate was designed by Backen & Backen Architecture together with CRC Builders and is surrounded by a stunning vineyard landscape in Napa, California. The owners of this estate and vineyard, Glenn Rice and Cynthia Hoy are both very successful PHD biophysicists who have discovered and developed numerous FDA-approved drugs for cardiovascular, cancer, autoimmune, and orphan diseases during their careers.
They now travel the world to study international vineyards, horticulture, climate change, sustainability, and wine-making methods to incorporate best practices into Napa. Experimentation and innovation is in their DNA. Their vineyard is called Quantum Limit, a 69-acre sprawling mountainside ranch located in the Howell Cordillera, specifically the southern end of the Howell Mountains in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley.

The ranch encompasses a 25-acre vineyard that is bifurcated into twenty-eight separate and unique mountainside vineyard blocks that straddle a southern Howell Mountain Range bench, largely west-southwest facing. The vineyards are operated as net carbon neutral, with a 75kW annual capacity of solar generation.
The 11,000-square-foot residence features a beautiful central courtyard with a wonderful indoor/outdoor flow. The covered outdoor space is the perfect place to appreciate the panoramic views.
The residence consists of a master suite with a private laundry and a spa that leads to an outdoor garden, three V.I.P. suites, four guest bedrooms, three indoor fireplaces (Isokern), a great room, a home library, a pool bath and shower, and seven bathrooms.
Details about the homeowners: Glenn and Cynthia are strong advocates of simultaneous conservation and land preservation and have donated land to the Napa County Land Trust, which helps to maintain the natural diversity of the county.
Grape growing and winemaking seem to fall into this multiverse of immeasurability, and frequently a lack of logic, predictability, and superimposition of objective realitiesโฆ but here they are with their Quantum Limit wine. Humbled and exhilarated by their surrounding nature, acres of sprawling mountainside located in the southern of Napa Valley, they have embarked on wine-making of the Cabernet evolution.
What We Love: This Napa wine country estate offers amazing indoor and outdoor living spaces that are perfect for entertaining. We really love the open-layout kitchen in this home, providing plenty of space for family and friends to gather. The pass-through window is the ultimate concept for bringing in fresh air and natural light while also being able to serve food to the pool area. The living room is also sensational with its striking fireplace design, inviting furnishings, and collections of art from the owner’s travels, adding character to the space.
