Workshop/APD in collaboration with ABD Studio has designed this spectacular modern house that is nestled on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. The dwelling seamlessly blends the owner’s passion for color and modern art with elements of traditional Nantucket style. The lively mix of textiles, wall coverings, and fresh hues draws inspiration from the property’s inherited garden and the region’s rich heritage in textile art and basket weaving.
The owners are a family of four from San Francisco who were seeking a summer getaway home that is laid-back yet chic. Inside, you will find inviting details at every turn in this New England style residence. Continue below to see the rest of this beautifully designed home…

The color palette of this home takes its inspiration from the existing garden on the property in the central courtyard, featuring greens, maroons, and mauve hues. Shiplap walls, large windows capturing views of the water, and open yet intimate layouts help to merge island tradition with modern living.
Furnishings include a mix of vintage with custom designer pieces to create a timeless charm. The interiors also showcase a vibrant mix of textiles and wall coverings. The material palette features a combination of mixed woods, stone, and organic woven textures. The sofa is custom upholstered in fabric from Schumacher, which beautifully pulls the colors from the property’s stunning garden just beyond the glass doors.
The artwork selections throughout this home evoke a sense of peace and comfort, with several of the pieces subtly nodding to nautical themes.
