Nestled on a hillside, this contemporary desert oasis was designed by PHX Architecture in collaboration with Holly Wright Design, located in the exclusive Desert Mountain neighborhood in North Scottsdale, Arizona. This home backs up to the Tonto National Forest, ideally situated on a 4-acre property that makes the owners feel like they are living amongst nature.
This impressive dwelling encompasses 6,884 square feet of living space. The entrance of the home features a courtyard surrounded by large glass windows. From its idyllic mountainside location, breathtaking valley views are captured from nearly every room of the home. The entire living room, great room, study, and master bedroom glass walls open up to allow for the entire back of the house to seamlessly blend into a large covered patio.

The architect employed a natural stone and muted palette for the exterior stucco of this home so that it would complement the surrounding desert terrain. The black steel windows were sourced from Heritage Windows and Doors.
The home includes a master suite, two large guest rooms, a hot yoga studio, a workout room, and an infinity pool. The kitchen in this home offers a unique entertaining space, designed to be clean and modern – all of the countertop appliances are located in a separate back kitchen, so the room is always appearing clean and uncluttered. Each room features a large window that captures the stunning desert landscape, almost looks like a canvas picture at first glance.
The architects focused on having the home seamlessly transition from interior to exterior, while the natural material helped to provide some softening and balance with the contemporary architecture. Adding warmth to the living spaces, the architects used koa wood and flat volcanic stone.
What We Love: This contemporary desert oasis has an open floor plan layout that is beautifully delineated with ceiling height and material changes.
