This relaxing family lake retreat created by Charlie & Co. Design together with L. Cramer Builders is situated on Northern Minnesota’s Upper Whitefish Lake. This dwelling was designed to accommodate large gatherings of friends and family and take advantage of expansive views while pursuing both a rustic and elegant coastal style.

With a desire for a lakeside retreat that would bring their family together, there needed to be comfortable and open spaces to accommodate the games, the grandchildren, and the relaxation of the water. The main priority was to have a central hallway on the main level. Their dream was to connect the front and back of the home, flooding the interiors with natural light.

The goal of this project was to marry luminous, open spaces with a feeling of cozy warmth. The millwork throughout this dwelling elevates each room with character while lending a “come-in-and-relax” vibe that encourages family comfort.

What We Love: This idyllic lake house retreat offers warm and welcoming living spaces for hosting family gatherings. Rustic warmth can be found throughout the interiors, from the wood flooring to the stone used on exterior and interior fireplaces. We love so many details in this home, from the cozy living room to the exquisite kitchen with its open layout and crisp, clean details.
