This beautiful coastal home designed by Salt Architecture together with Martha’s Vineyard Interior Design overlooks Ryder’s Cove, a saltwater estuary located in North Chatham, Massachusetts. When constructing this home, the architects faced several permitting challenges, necessitating creativity, and compromise when positioning the house and detached garage along with the pool and decks.

Energy efficient aspects of this home include triple glazed doors and windows, all electric mechanical systems, above code R values with continuous exterior insulation, non-PVC based trim and siding, PV ready orientation and pre-wire, and locally sourced wood flooring and ceilings.

A priority for the exterior of the house was to balance traditional Cape/Chatham forms and materials in deference to its location with the homeowner’s desire for a more modern aesthetic.
