Britt Design Group together with LaRue Architects have designed this gorgeous family-friendly house situated in the rolling hills of Austin, Texas. The homeowners are transplants from California, wanting to build their forever home outside Austin’s city core in the Texas Hill Country, and hired the Austin award-winning design firms of Britt Design Group and LaRue Architects.
The design team created a modern family-friendly home with a livable indoor/outdoor connection suited to the energetic and growing family. Cooking, crafting, and play spaces were important elements and a quiet private office for Ross — as he now operates his company from home full-time rather than going to an off-site office space.

The home is nestled into the hillside. The primary suite is cantilevered out over the landscape with floor-to-ceiling windows. To create privacy, the secondary spaces are set downstairs into the side of the hill and off to the side. The primary and living spaces capture the expansive views looking out over the impressive rolling hills of the Texas Hill Country.
The interior design aesthetic leans on clean lines and high contrast with a bit of laid-back softness through textiles and textures. “The homeowners wanted warm and inviting spaces with a contrasting color palette, which we created using textural elements like natural textiles, nubby textures, and fun wallcoverings, balanced with natural woods and earth tones.
They also wanted high-quality luxury Italian furnishings and fixtures that were both durable and kid-friendly,” says Laura Britt, Britt Design Group. The design team’s one-of-a-kind custom-designed furnishings in addition to Italian modern pieces are featured throughout the home.
Interior highlights include in the living room: Minotti Sectional and Swivel Chairs, and Berman Rosetti Chairs in Custom Fabric frame expansive views of the Texas Hill Country. The dining rooms’ Holly Hunt Fjord lighting fixtures top Britt Design Group’s custom-designed chairs and dining table.
The designer selected new furnishings, art, and accessories to craft warm and inviting living spaces. Beautiful textures intertwine—natural fibers, knits, and metallic wallcoverings—melding with earth tones, to create a relaxing atmosphere.
