This spectacular contemporary desert house designed by Tate Studio Architects is situated near Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale, Arizona. The owner of this dwelling was originally from Newport Beach, California, seeking a more expansive living space after residing in a condo for several years.
The home blends rustic board-formed concrete with precision concrete block, forming a visually striking modern structure emerging from the desert landscape. The black basalt tile and sleek travertine provide an attractive complement to the man-made elements, creating a striking contrast in texture and color. Expansive walls of glass frame picturesque views of the desert terrain, while clerestory windows provide glimpses of distant mountain peaks.

What We Love: This spectacular Arizona desert house is infused with warmth throughout its interiors thanks to the cedar cladding in the great room, the second-level guest retreat, and the wood paneling in the owner’s bedroom. Large expanses of glazing help to capture the desert vistas throughout this home, blurring the lines between indoors and out. Overall, the project team did a fabulous job of creating a calming oasis for the homeowner.
