Murphy & Co. Design crafted this house that blends farmhouse elements with fresh design, situated on a compact property in the Arden Park neighborhood of Edina, Minnesota. The residence was designed to replace the owner’s smaller home to adapt to the changing needs of a growing family.
Blending farmhouse elements with fresh design, this family home brings the best of texture, scale, and materials into a modest suburban neighborhood
Employing traditional materials and massing, the dwelling harkens back to historic farmhouses with its simple gable forms and shed dormers. The simple rusticity of the exterior is repeated on the interior, featuring hand-hewn wood beams and columns throughout the first floor. Most of the furnishings are heirloom pieces passed down through the owner’s family for generations.
