This spectacular contemporary home was reimagined by Ore Studios, located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. With a layout perfectly tailored to his lifestyle and breathtaking views of Lake Union and downtown, the homeowner found the perfect match with this abode.
This single-story 1950s home had undergone significant modifications twenty years ago, which included the addition of a second floor and a stair tower. The remodel entailed some exterior refurbishing, yet otherwise stayed within the previously remodeled structure.

The flooring throughout the interiors was swapped out with new white oak, helping to quiet the existing sycamore and cement fiber wall paneling. Green and cool gray paint colors were replaced with a soothing greige palette. In addition, new tile, stone, and custom casework make the interiors feel more substantial and inviting.
The new rooms were decorated with a small yet important collection of Art Deco furnishings and artwork that the homeowner already possessed.
By seamlessly integrating these cherished pieces with new vintage and contemporary furnishings, the designer managed to maintain his refined perspective while infusing a relaxed and modern feel throughout the 7,100-square-foot home.
Fresh architectural finishes and understated furnishings have been employed to tone down the extensive paneling that remains from a prior renovation.
What We Love: This Capitol Hill home provides its owner with completely transformed living spaces that feel more inviting and warm. Wood paneling and flooring provide warmth to the refined palette, while large walls of glazing bring in natural light and the idyllic views of Lake Union and downtown. Overall, the project team did a fabulous job of completely redefining the home’s aesthetics.

Upgrades were made to the stairs and landing, wall and ceiling panels, lighting systems, doors, trim, and finishes. Additionally, bathrooms were given a facelift, the kitchen walls were reconfigured, and new cabinets were installed along with countertops, appliances, and fixtures.
Throughout the home, refined textures inspired by traditional men’s fashion were incorporated.
The project team removed a staircase to the basement to create a delightful window nook in a intimate space adjoining the living room. The nook is a cozy spot in which to take a nap, read a book, or lie back and gaze across Lake Union and the Ship Canal.
