An escape for a Chicago-based family of six, this spectacular mountain retreat was designed by CLB Architects together with Prospect Studio, nestled on a 10-acre stretch on the Snake River in Jackson, Wyoming. The riparian site boasted a dense canopy of cottonwood and conifer trees, alongside a man-made pond and an irrigation channel fed by the Snake River, from which the property derives its name, Owl Ditch Ranch.

The homeowners resided on the property in a different structure for a duration of five years as they worked on bringing their dream high-country home to life. That time allowed both the family and the design team to familiarize themselves with the site more intimately, which informed the compound’s final layout.

The resulting modern interpretation of a mountain lodge perfectly suits this active family, who, along with their four sons and friends, use it as a base camp for enjoying the surrounding natural playground.

The property comprises of a main residence of roughly 6,500 square feet, an 850-square-foot party/exercise barn, and an existing log guesthouse that would be renovated.

What We Love: Rustic, clean, and elegant are the words that come to mind when describing this incredible Wyoming mountain retreat. One of our favorite details in this home is the backlit accent of the onyx wall in the main bathroom shower. We love the surrounding beauty of this home and how it is orientated on the site to soak in the breathtaking views.
