Urban Grace Interiors has designed this stunning lake house for a family of six, located in Windermere, a quaint town outside of Orlando, Florida. The goal for their first and forever home was to have comfortable, no-fuss living spaces where they could relax and unwind as a family.

Interior living spaces were designed with a twist on Southern tradition. It was imperative that the living spaces be easy to navigate since the husband is blind. The finished result is fresh, clean, and livable spaces with plenty of color and room to grow. Continue below for the tour of this welcoming family home…

What We Love: This Florida lake house provides a family with a serene color palette and furnishings that are stylish yet durable for a timeless design. Playful pops of color can be found throughout this home, with white walls serving as a backdrop to the beautiful artwork. Large windows not only blur the lines between indoors and out but frame the idyllic views of the lake. We are loving every detail of this family-friendly home, from the appealing textures to the overall comfort.

Above: In the living room, the designer selected high-performance Perennials acrylic fabric for the armchairs. The Lee Industries sofa is upholstered in an indoor/outdoor fabric. These material choices were important to the design, taking into consideration wet bathing suits after coming in off the lake or potential spills. Over the fireplace, the artwork is by locally-based artist Teresa Cline.

Above: This busy family enjoys spending time gathering in the kitchen, so lots of seating was integral to the design. The Lee Industries benches are slipcovered for easy cleaning. The window seats are upholstered in outdoor fabric and accented with cozy throw pillows. Decorating the windows are hand-illustrated ink and watercolor designs printed on Belgian linen. Item: 101-IOYS Color: Indigo, sourced from Radish Moon. On the ceiling, the paint color is White Dove OC-17 | Benjamin Moore.

The light fixture inspired the rest of the design scheme for this space. The table and buffet are from Baker Furniture, perfect for entertaining. Window treatments are the Nanjing – Porcelain Fabrics from Schumacher. Blue and white antique Chinese pottery decorates the room, along with a painting by local artist Liza Snyder Art. Durable indoor/outdoor fabrics cover the furnishings.

Above: Protecting this outdoor living space from the elements are automated retractable screens. Everything in this Florida lake house is automated, from the speakers and lighting to the pool equipment โ€” all connected through the touch of an app. Next on this family’s wishlist is to integrate the Amazon Echo dots, allowing the lighting to be reconfigured, or turn on their Spotify playlist with a voice command.
