A colonial style home in Minnesota gets a beautifully inspiring facelift

colonial home exterior

Charlie & Co. Design has completely reimagined this stunning 1941 Colonial-style home nestled on almost an acre in the Rolling Green neighborhood of Edina, Minnesota. This new design ties together 80+ years of various additions, bringing more daylight and a cohesive vision to this refreshed residence.

The homeowners were drawn to the property for its traditional architecture, lush landscaping, and the five bedrooms that are located on the upper level — enough space for the owners and their four children. Continue below to see the rest of this family home transformation…

The homeowner did not want her home to have the typical traditional Colonial style aesthetic. She opted for classic yet unconventional, decorating with heirloom pieces such as her mother’s chinoiserie cabinet and a sideboard she had inherited from her grandmother. The designer mainly sourced antiques from Minneapolis-based Loft Antiques.

This includes a large pantry wall, an additional oven integrated into the island, and an appliance garage nestled within a beautifully crafted mirrored cabinet reminiscent of an elegant linen press.

Five bedrooms and not one picture? I was really hoping to see a bedroom in this magnificent home.

Beautifully done. Gosh, so refreshing not to see the kitchen in the living room.
