Living Stone Design + Build together with ID.ology Interiors & Design has created this modern-style house perched above the historic town of Hendersonville in the Western North Carolina Mountains. This mountain home has an intriguing and captivating design. It was inspired by true modern style, as is evident from the ultra-clean, geometric lines of the facade, windows, and cabinetry.
The project team used asymmetric details to add visual interest and artistry, and an abundance of natural wood and stone to balance the modern feel with an organic sense of warmth. Inside you will find a spacious 3,975 square-foot floor plan with three bedrooms and four bathrooms. Continue below to see how a few large-scale, standout features can take a design to the next level.
This dwelling is sited in the Couch Mountain community and built to fit perfectly on top of a rock outcropping overlooking Hendersonville. The epic view is the highlight of this home, and everything was designed around it.
The home’s location and the alignment of the expansive glazing provide this wonderful balance, where you’re treated to this sweeping long-view mountain panorama, but also nestled cozily in the surrounding trees.

Additional highlights in this mountain home include the dramatic white fir ceilings with warm gold and caramel hues, the three-way natural stone fireplace that can be enjoyed from all angles, and the natural stone foyer that extends to both levels. It’s the perfect example of how you can use both subtlety and drama to beautifully balance a living space.
Above: Stone accents sprinkled throughout this dwelling effortlessly tie the interior with the exterior of this mountain home. We are loving the texture and visual interest the stone brings to each space. The coffee table was sourced from Atelier Maison & Co.
Above: The kitchen features a combination of sleek and bold. A solid slab backsplash creates visual interest while beautifully complimenting the custom cabinetry.
Above: This serene bedroom is dubbed “The Green Room”, for two reasons: the wall color and because this room is surrounded by lush green trees and a stunning view of Hendersonville, North Carolina.
