Starr Sanford Design in collaboration with Tk Design Studio has designed this rustic luxe multigenerational retreat that is nestled on 310 acres of property in Ennis, Montana. This getaway home is idyllically sited for the owners to enjoy views of the Madison River, a portion of which runs through their property. This region is known as “a cowboy town with a fishing problem”.
The couple was drawn to this area for its breathtaking natural beauty and as a mecca for fishing, as they divide their time between this home and their other residence in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Tasked with creating a multi-family retreat for the couple’s five grown children along with grandchildren, the team created a coastal feel with a Western twist (the coastal part is a nod to their beloved Florida home).

On the interior, a flexible main floor plan layout includes an open living/dining area with a kitchen that is open yet separate along with the owner’s bedroom suite. On the upper level, is a guest bedroom.

What We Love: This rustic luxe retreat has a calming living environment with a neutral color scheme that harmonizes with nature and offers a sense of place. Material selections of wood and stone along with layers of texture provide warmth throughout this stunning home. We are loving how the architects positioned this home right along the river to enable calming views framed through large windows throughout this getaway home.
