This small modern apartment showcases a masculine design aesthetic by Studio ro+ca, located in Ipanema, a neighborhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The principle idea was to use space more efficiently in this small 645 square foot (60 square meters) apartment. The idea was to unite all the spaces, including the kitchen, living room and even the guest room with the inclusion of a sliding door that can close the space off for privacy. The owner of this intriguing home is a bachelor and practicing lawyer for the past 30 years. The client wished to have his home designed with a masculine tone and enough circulation space to entertain friends with the convenience of a large bathroom and spacious closet. To delineate between the kitchen and living room, the kitchen ceiling was painted black and the living room was given a fresh coat of white paint. In the kitchen, black cabinetry, stainless steel appliances characterize the owner, while a yellow dining table in the center of the space infuses life and contrast. In the living room, the TV wall is clad with bricks which extends through the hall / closet to the bathroom, which helps to unite the spaces. Carefully selected furnishings sit in harmony to the project, creating a comfortable atmosphere.
A white door leads to the guest room and a wardrobe travels the length of the hallway, which connects to the master bedroom. The bathroom also features a touch of warmth from the brick, which contrasts nicely with the white cabinetry and walls. The completed result is a masculine atmosphere that flows throughout without being overdone, creating the perfect environment for a bachelor. We love the mix of black and white contrasts in this cool apartment and how much design is in such a small space. Impressive pad! What do you think, was this design successful?
