Constructed in 1864, this historic country farmhouse was reimagined by AHG Interiors in collaboration with Dum Designs, located in the Hudson Valley, New York. The dwelling is nestled on a beautiful 40-acres property with a working horse farm and a neighboring apple orchard.
It was essential to bring the natural and whimsical elements indoors. A connection with nature infused new energy into this home, creating a picture-perfect postcard moment from every vantage point. Continue below to see the rest of this stunning renovation project…
The owners wanted their home to have a relaxed, casual vibe where guests could walk in and feel comfortable. This was symbolized by the red front door. In an old early American tradition, a red door meant the home welcomed weary travelers and that they were allowed to spend the night there for protection, rest, and comfort.
The comfortable feel of this home comes from the selection of furnishings and accent pieces that surprise you at every turn, working in conjunction with the jute rugs to unify the home.
What We Love: This country farmhouse in the serene Hudson Valley provides its inhabitants with a complete refresh of their living spaces. The interiors are comfortable and relaxed for a homey feel where family and friends are made to feel welcome. There are so many beautiful details in this home, but our favorite space is the living room with its amazing rustic stone fireplace that is flanked by an extra comfortable chaise.

Living spaces were stripped back to their original identities. Crisp white floors and walls enabled the original qualities of this historic farmhouse to flourish. The owners wished for their home to speak not only to their surroundings but also to their lifestyle.
By incorporating layered textures and natural elements in the furnishings, the designers were able to reconnect the formal historic qualities of the home with its relaxed surroundings.
An elegant and playful personality is on full display in this home. The gracious combination of the grand piano, home library, and roaming bunnies roots this dwelling in natural simplicity.
Contrasting elements and materials help to maintain the original charm of this country farmhouse.
