Devon Grace Interiors in collaboration with builder MG Custom have renovated this cool bachelor pad located in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Located on the seventh floor of a century-old former textile factory, this modern loft features soaring ceilings, an abundance of natural light, and industrial character.
The owner was a transplant from Texas who moved into the dated condo for two years before commissioning the designer to take the home down to the studs. Taking 18 months to complete, this newly renovated home had a specific vision in which every square inch needed to be completely customized in detail to reflect the occupant’s personality.
Material selections were key in making this home aesthetically spectacular. In the kitchen, the copper piping and concrete columns were left exposed. Custom cabinets of wire-brushed white oak contrast beautifully with the white marble countertops. The range hood is composed of a patinated “living finish” (uncoated) brass that needs to be waxed routinely to preserve its appearance.
What We Love: This cool bachelor pad was successful in completing the owner’s vision of a place to relax and unwind with a posh hotel room vibe. The use of rich wood throughout this home brings warmth into the otherwise modern interiors. This unique space has a lot of history that the project team was able to honor while creating a visually striking, well-appointed home that can be enjoyed for years to come.
