The gorgeous modern farmhouse estate was designed for a family of six by Michael Abraham Architecture, nestled on a thirty-acre wooded property south of Kalamazoo, Michigan. This project was focused on family, meaningful design, unparalleled craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the home’s surroundings.
This home’s story began with a sheltered farmhouse tucked away on a remote piece of land. From this single structure, the architect’s design and vision came to fruition. As the project progressed, and the narrative evolved, each element of the home came to life in the form of standalone farm outbuildings.
The original farmhouse – a primary suite; The hayloft – a foyer; The barn – a modern-day garage; The tractor shed – an in-law suite; The horse stable – a kitchen and great room. Over time each of these sections, like pieces of a puzzle, came together to form this new and exciting modern farmhouse.

As you enter the home, you are immediately aware that the brilliance and thoughtfulness embodied by the exterior architecture and landscaping, only continue to be honored and enhanced throughout the entire interior of the home. Each room showcases exquisite craftsmanship, and an extraordinary appreciation for the relationship between color, texture, scale, and arrangement.
Every area, from the expansive kitchen to the elegant and vast great room, to the secluded and luxurious primary wing, is exquisitely furnished with custom furniture, art, and accessories. Each piece comes together to create a feeling of relaxation and serenity.

Above: The kitchen was designed by de Giulio kitchen design. This exquisite space features polished stainless steel, with a chevron pattern on the side of the island that provides texture and a touch of elegance. Stainless steel is also used on the drawers that serve the La Cornue cooktop. A custom vent hood is composed of brushed stainless steel.
The hand-rubbed finish brings out the warmth of the Silicon bronze metal straps and cuts down on the reflection. The refrigerator-freezer panels, on the front of the expansive 12-foot island, are oak with a taupe wash finish for a silvered aesthetic. The countertops are Iceberg quartzite.
