This lakeshore modern retreat home was designed by Unfold Architecture in collaboration with Sustainable 9 Design overlooking the shores of Bald Eagle Lake in Hugo, Minnesota. Encompassing 4,600 square feet of living space, this dwelling offers four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a three-car garage.
The exterior siding is a maintenance-free wood fiber+resin NFC certified product called Pura that was purchased locally from DWELL44 – Modern Design Studio. Highlights of this dwelling include an outdoor half-court basketball area behind the garage, a full gym, a sauna, and a relaxing screen porch that faces a private wooded backyard.

Views over the lake are visible from three levels of energy-efficient windows. The home’s open floor plan and expansive glazing allow the occupants to enjoy spectacular early morning and western sunsets.
Above: A double-story, 7-foot linear gas fireplace that features a stone wall that continues outdoors as well as a recessed walnut accent. The aesthetic of this beautiful dwelling mixes midcentury and mountain modern.

Above: In the exquisite kitchen you will find custom Crystal Cabinets with walnut slab doors, an island featuring a Cambria waterfall edge countertop, a walk-through pantry with a full ice maker, and Thermador appliances.

What We Love: This lakeshore modern retreat offers the most relaxing views through its expansive windows through pretty much every room in the house. We are loving the soaring ceilings and mix of midcentury elements to create a stylish atmosphere. The use of hardwood flooring helps to bring warmth into this modern dwelling. Overall, we think we would feel right at home in this fabulous abode with its indoor-outdoor living and idyllic lakeside location.
