This beautiful mountain retreat was designed by Kelly & Stone Architects in collaboration with Loverde Builders, located in the Martis Camp community of Truckee, California. The exterior of this home features clear cedar, sandstone, walnut–trimmed windows, and copper shingles. Scenic views of the Northstar Ski Slopes have been maximized throughout this dwelling.
The homeowner’s request was to capture and celebrate the picturesque surrounding environment, which is just what the architects did. The integration of elegant walls of glass by Dynamic Fenestration helped to make this vision a reality. Surrounding this 3,250 square foot home, the beautifully landscaped property features a stream that meanders under the bridged walkway.

The great room offers an idyllic indoor-outdoor living experience courtesy of a lift-and-slide door system that leads out to an expansive patio. Steel accents throughout this dwelling compliment the exquisite woodwork.

Above: In the kitchen, a large sliding window connects the kitchen to a covered patio. This makes entertaining a breeze with this unique indoor-outdoor living experience.

Above: The fireplace stone surround is a sawed multicolored limestone. Most of this stone comes from a handful of quarries in Montana. This particular layup is labor-intensive as all of the pieces have to be within an exact height.
Above: Another highlight of this home is this dramatic three-story floating staircase, which leads from the mudroom on the ground floor to the main level and then to the upstairs. Oak treads are anchored by custom steel stringers. Tempered glass was used for the guardrail, allowing natural light to pierce through while amplifying the light pouring in from the floor-to-ceiling corner window. The stone on the staircase wall is a sawed Montana Limestone.
