Lindye Galloway Design has reimagined this childhood home that’s inspired by the coast, located in Newport Beach, a coastal city in southern California. For this home’s interior decoration, the designer pulled coastal elements with a natural design aesthetic to resemble a nordic feel.
As the childhood home of the homeowner, this project was designed with the intention of keeping the nostalgia while incorporating a fresh, new design. A neutral palette with bold moments and layers of texture provides this dwelling with distinctive touches at every turn. While most of the home got a major overhaul, the original fireplace in the living room was preserved yet given a facelift.
A functional open floor plan was devised for entertaining. The owner has young children, so creating new memories in this home was at the forefront of this design. With this in mind, the designer created a space that is both a sanctuary for the parents and a comfortable place for their children to grow up. The entire process took two years to complete and the family was welcomed back to their roots.
What We Love: The designer has done a beautiful job of transforming the owner’s childhood home into a bright and airy new space to make new family memories. Refreshed living spaces have been completely updated to reflect the current style trends. The floor plan is now fully functional for modern family living and offers a wonderful flow for entertaining in style. We are especially loving the playful kid’s spaces, so much attention to detail!
