This splendid modern farmhouse-style home was designed by Young & Borlik Architects, nestled on a 1.3-acre property in Atherton, a town in San Mateo County, California.
This 12,086 square foot, seven-bedroom, and ten-bath house is an adaptation of classic detailing with a crisp and tightly organized modern flair. Traditional materials and a casual design have been revitalized and deliberately executed to create a highly refined version of a farmhouse style.

A casual stone and gravel driveway leads to a large heritage Oak tree that enhances this home’s curb appeal. The gravel driveway allows air and water to keep the tree healthy. A touch of metal roofing at the entry and dormers provide a modern contrast to the siding and shingle elements.
Inside, this stunning modern farmhouse includes a full library, a basement billiard room, and sports bar, a basement family room, an exercise room, and a large home movie theater.
What We Love: This splendid modern farmhouse features multiple entertainment patios and fire pits for intimate gatherings with family and friends. Inside, a fully-furnished basement also provides wonderful entertainment areas, with a beautifully appointed kitchen, a family room, a home bar, and a fabulous home theater. We are especially loving the living room with its soaring ceilings and indoor-outdoor connection with a view looking out towards the swimming pool.

The house facade is balanced and deliberate, while the garage element is recessed. An asphalt section provides space to ride bikes or play basketball when the desire presents itself.
