Smiros & Smiros Architects is responsible for the architecture and interior design of this elegant family home that was reimaged for family living. The residence is nestled in Sands Point, a village located at the northernmost tip of the Cow Neck Peninsula on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County, New York.
A well-functioning family home needs formal and informal spaces. This renovation ensured it had both. Formal spaces feature elegant dark oak flooring and are more traditionally segregated unto themselves. Be sure to continue below to see the Before Pictures!
The project team opened up the kitchen, breakfast area, and family room to each other, creating a more relaxed flow, then deployed blonder wide-plank oak flooring throughout to lighten the mood.
Formal and informal areas remain distinct but of a piece thanks to the consistent palette.
The kitchen was totally redesigned with white cabinetry and subway tile, Cristallo Quartzite counters, a custom steel hood with industrial-style antique brass bands and rivets, and blue accents that tie it to other spaces.

What We Love: This elegant family home offers its inhabitants reimagined living spaces to accommodate a family’s lifestyle needs. Interior spaces are warm and inviting, decorated with stylishly appointed furnishings that will stand the test of time. We are especially loving the newly revamped entryway and gorgeous kitchen with a beautiful custom metal hood — ideal for family gatherings and entertaining in style!
