Edgens Herzog Architects has designed this gorgeous french country house located in the wonderful mountain community of Highgate, in Highlands, North Carolina. This home explores and is inspired by the dynamic multiplicity of scales and spatial relationships that can exist within a ‘Salon Style’ main space.
A large seating group in front of the massive fireplace is surrounded by a number of smaller spaces including the lower scaled media nook, the vertically oriented and well-lit piano corner, the more intimate dining and bar area, and overlooked by the reading area on the balcony above.

What We Love: This french country mountain house boasts a charming stone facade surrounded by lush landscaping. Nestled in an idyllic mountain community, this home offers a tranquil environment for its inhabitants. On the interior of this home, warm and inviting living spaces are perfect for both family living and entertaining. Large glass windows at the back of the property provide a wonderful indoor-outdoor connection. We are especially loving the three-season porch with its comfortable furnishings and stone fireplace.
