James McNeal Architecture and Design along with Hendel Homes designed this Montana modern lodge-style home nestled on a sprawling 40 wooded acres near Afton, Minnesota. The goal of this project was to bring a little bit of the west to Minnesota, from the site to the stone landscaping. This 5,500-square-foot dwelling with four-bedrooms and five-bathrooms was built into the hillside to take advantage of the landscape views.
A metal structure ties together multiple ranch buildings with a modern, sleek interior that serves as a gallery for the owners collected works of art. A welcoming, airy bridge is located at the main entrance, and spans a unique water feature flowing beneath into a private trout pond below, where the owner can fly fish directly from the man-cave!
What We Love: This fantastic modern lodge-style home takes its cue from the architectural vernacular of what you would see in the West. Large windows frame stunning views of the waterfall, pond, swimming pool, and the surrounding beauty of the woodsy property. A striking exterior aesthetic is warm and inviting courtesy of a rustic material palette, while the interior is clean and sleek. Overall, we are loving this stunning home, especially the incredible backyard with the pond and waterfall.
