This beautiful midcentury lake house was reimagined by Peterssen Keller Architecture positioned on a hill overlooking tranquil Gleason Lake, in Wayzata, Minnesota. The vision of this renovation project was to preserve the original aesthetic while adding modern technology and function to meet current lifestyle trends.
While the owners’ loved the aesthetic of their mid-century house and the way it was ideally nestled on a hillside with views to the lake, they were challenged by the outdated interior layout and the lack of a strong connection to the outdoors.
Project Team: Architect: Peterssen Keller Architecture | Builder: Streeter Homes | Interior Stylist: Jay Nuhring | Landscape Architecture: Nathan Anderson & Ground One
The project team responded to the surrounding context by flipping the kitchen and the living room, which preserved the home’s mid-century character while updating it to reflect the owners’ modern lifestyle.
What We Love: This remodel project creates a strong sense of place by preserving the original mid-century spirit of the home while maximizing the beautiful waterfront site. A strong indoor-outdoor connection was established throughout this dwelling, inviting nature inside while drenching the spaces with natural light. Overall, the transformation offers a beautiful, updated look to an outdated design.
