SALA Architects is responsible for the design of this shed house, located in Como, a community in Park County in the Rocky Mountains of central Colorado. For over a decade the owners of this property dreamed of replacing a well-worn trailer, parked by a previous owner onto a forested corner of the site, with a permanent structure designed to maximize the mesmerizing views across South Park basin.
Accompanying a mutual friend nearly as long ago, the architect visited the site as a guest and years later could easily recall the inspiration inherent in the site. Ultimately dream and inspiration collided to create this amazing weekend getaway. With a mere 440 square feet planted in the ground and just 1,500 square feet combined across three levels, the design creates indoor and outdoor spaces to frame distant range views and protect inhabitants from the intense Colorado sun and evening chill with minimal impact on its surroundings.

What We Love: The shed house offers a compact vertical layout with minimal living, focusing on the spectacular views. There is a fantastic indoor-outdoor connection, ideal for nature lovers. An expansive covered patio and an upper-level balcony encourage spending time in the great outdoors. We think this home would make the perfect low-maintenance weekend getaway!
Tell Us: What details in the design of this home most appeal to you and why in the Comments below, we love reading your feedback!
