This modern farmhouse style home was designed by Wade Design Architects, located in Calistoga, a small city in California’s Napa Valley. The home was created for a couple from Los Angeles as their dream house for retirement. Overall this dwelling embraces their passion for wine country and entertaining while customizing their environment to work for their special interests and hobbies.
The goal for this project was for the home to blend into the landscape so as to not overshadow the views. There was plenty of land to stretch the house out on the flat property, siting the house to gaze upon the neighboring vineyard and beyond to the northern ridgeline. This low-lying compound encompasses the main residence, a guest house, pool house and a car barn. The structures are sited along an east-west axis, enabling maximized views to the north.
