This beautiful modern lake house is the work of design-build firm Thomas Construction in collaboration with Studio McGee, located in Missouri. The exterior facade is characterized by modern, clean lines and perfectly captures the natural surroundings of the area. The exterior features cedar and stone, the latter was repeated on the interior, adding warmth and harmony. The designers juxtaposed the texture of the store with clean, white walls and natural wood beams. The main palette on the interior is a combination of black, white, wood and very little color.
Living spaces were kept uncluttered and unfussy using large statement pieces. Black is carried throughout the entry, which ties into the black statement windows and finishes throughout this modern lake house.
Above: The white walls throughout the interior are painted in Simply White OC-117 | Benjamin Moore.
Above: The dining room was decorated using natural textures, modern statements and a restrained color palette. A vintage area rug defines the space, it’s subtle pattern anchoring the long wood table and leather bucket chairs. Above the table is the 7-globe branching bubble BB.07.45 – Lindsey Adelman. There was not space for a console table since the seating took up all available space. The designer’s opted for mirrors on the wall to reflect light and do something different other than more artwork, since a statement piece was on the adjacent wall.

What We Love: This visually striking modern lake house offers a simple material palette, focusing on the natural beauty surrounding this home. We are especially loving the great room, with its soaring ceiling and expansive windows that frames views of the forest and beyond to the lake. FYI: The light fixture illuminating the entryway is custom, by Apparatus.
