This modern-style barn home was designed by Kevin O’Sullivan + Associates, located in Amagansett, a seaside community of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York. At the heart of this home is a common great room, which combines the kitchen, dining room, and living room in one shared space. The space offers 782 square feet; 23 by 34 feet. The homeowners include a couple with two young children. This hip family wished to have the heart of their home be a place where they could cook, eat, and play.
There are other more low-key and private zones surrounding this centrally located great room, however, this is where all the action occurs. Plenty of functionality and organization throughout go a long way to creating relaxing living areas. White walls, cabinets, and millwork throughout are painted in Ammonite No.274 · Farrow & Ball. Windows are doors are all painted black, while reclaimed cedar beams are a highlight of the great room ceiling.

What We Love: This modern-style barn home offers highly functional living spaces that are crisp and clean with plenty of natural light throughout. The interiors are refreshingly unique, with beautiful aesthetics. A high volume ceiling and an abundance of windows help to create high impact in the great room, which is the center point of this fantastic family home.
