Charming rustic cabin for winter getaways in the Pyrenees Mountains

This intimate rustic cabin was designed for a couple who loves to entertain, located in the Aran Valley, on the northern slope of the Pyrenees, in Catalonia, Spain. For the homeowners, their love of skiing and taking long walks through this beautiful valley makes this region very idyllic. The couple purchased this mountain cabin when their children left the nest to go off to college. It was a long-awaited dream, a refuge for two, but also a place for visits from family and friends.

Interior decorator Carmen Caubet was commissioned to bring the dream of this couple to reality. The designer worked to preserve the original wood that surrounded the entire cabin, returning it to the original color of the pine beams. They demolished walls and created an open layout for natural light and a better distribution.

What We Love: Throughout this rustic cabin are very comfortable living spaces, created with cozy furnishings and textiles to curl up and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Blankets, skins and warm textiles, with wool and mohair for cushions and upholstery, embrace this home’s inhabitants. Here, winter is a pleasurable experience to enjoy outdoor activities with friends and family while also soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds this home.
