Today’s house tour is a mountain getaway infused with a mix of modern and Belgian-farmhouse style by designer Will Wick, located in Lake Tahoe, California. This Martis Camp vacation home was designed for a young couple with three children, the casual style atmosphere fits perfectly with its surrounding environment of pine trees. The designer selected of color palette of neutrals and warm hues wrapped in clean lines contrasted with rustic materials for a cool mountain aesthetic.
To pull off the Belgian look, the designer selected chunky furnishings and oversize black granite tiles for the flooring. The tiles were sandblasted in order to give the effect of Belgian bluestone with white grouting. The flooring invigorates the space, while the walls were dressed in warmth with bleached cedar that has been given a whitewashed finish. The designer wanted the tones to be simple so as not to detract from the natural setting seen through all of the sunlit windows.
The window frames were all painted black to not only add definition but to draw your eyes to the beautiful scenery outside. To create an indoor-outdoor connection, accordion window walls were added to either side of the living area to extend the space for entertaining. The outdoor living space encompasses sun loungers and a dining area with a fire pit to enjoy fresh air and dining al fresco.

The kitchen was left as an open concept to keep the space feeling casual and to make it easy for kids. With two floating islands, this kitchen is the perfect design to enjoy both cooking and entertaining, not to mention having a great flow for keeping an eye on little ones!
