Warm and inviting farmhouse style home in the San Francisco Bay Area

farmhouse-style-home-exterior

Designed by Feldman Architecture, this family home mixes traditional styles with clean lines and flexible spaces, located in Palo Alto, a city in Californiaโ€™s San Francisco Bay Area. The homeowners are a couple with three children who wished to have a farmhouse style home that is understated and timeless. Pockets of intimacy dot the corners and corridors of this home, including a piano alcove in the living room, a light-filled breakfast nook and a lofted reading room with windows framing idyllic views over the yard.

The interior features a classic layout, giving structure to the distinct spaces while organizing the home into two wings, which are connected by a bar. Casual living areas designed for daily use are connected to a more formal entertaining living room and den by a central dining room at the core. The dining room is connected to the outdoor patio via expansive glass doors, blurring the boundaries between indoors and out.

What We Love: This farmhouse style home combines classic aesthetics with the flexibility of an open and airy floor plan. Custom designed steel frame doors that separates the dining room from the outdoor terrace helps to create a fluid indoor-outdoor connection. A multi-purpose room at the heart of the home, with a built-in bookshelf spanning the wall, the perfect backdrop to multiple activities…. Readers, what do you like most about the design of this home?
