Today we would love to share with you this delightful historical farmhouse, renovated by interiors firm PlaidFox Studio along with Home Star BC, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. This 100 year old crumbling farmhouse underwent a complete overhaul. The design team worked together to painstakingly modernize this home, all the while maintaining it’s original character. There was also a new addition to the home, an eating area that includes a swinging dutch door, cement tile flooring with an eye-catching pattern and an exquisite antique brass light fixture.
Wood clad walls can be see throughout the interiors, repurposed from the dilapidated barn that was residing on the property. One of the many challenges in this project was to integrate a classic equestrian aesthetic within each space, while still keeping them feeling bright and livable. Overall this project shows us that bolder, more colorful strokes enables a home to possess what many other lack: personality!
What We Love: The designers were able to maintain the west coast charm of this historical farmhouse while infusing modern design details throughout. The use of reclaimed timbers on the walls and stylish furnishings, accessories and design elements helps to create character and charm. We bet you’ll want to move to a farmhouse after this amazing home tour! Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
Above: What was once a storage room has been transformed into a beautiful master bathroom. It is also the most modern of all the spaces within this farmhouse. The bathroom features white-washed floors in a herringbone pattern, intermingled with elements such as limestone, marble, brick and reclaimed timber. The designers created an eclectic, light-filled oasis.
