Modern Family Home Renovation-01-1 Kindesign

Set on a 25 foot wide lot, this family home renovation project was commissioned by Verner Architects, located in in San Francisco, California. A classic home for this area, the property underwent an extensive remodel. The rear half of the home was completely reconfigured. This helped to create open, light-filled modern living spaces, while still respecting the style and character of the old home. The dimensions for this open plan great room is 23′-9″ in length. Glass doors seamless extends this living space to a cozy terrace, surrounded by lush greenery.

Note: The architect completed this incredible home renovation project while he was still the Principal at Aleck Wilson Architects.

Above: The kitchen island countertop features Statuary Marble, while the perimeter countertops are Basaltina. The backsplash tile is simple white ceramic subway tile, 3″ x 6″, by Daltile. The Ralph Lauren Fulton Large Pendants illuminating the island were sourced from Circa Lighting.

What We Love: This luminous family home renovation project features light and airy living spaces complimented by stylish furnishings and fixtures. This entire home is warm and inviting and although on a narrow lot, the interiors feel very spacious. The cozy outdoor seating area is the perfect spot to relax after work or entertain friends and family on the weekends. There is a lot of details to admire throughout this welcoming home.

Above: Love how the architect designed this dining space with the built-in bench seating in the nook. Above the bench you can see three openings, which are awash in light from skylights above. Below is a stairwell that leads down to the lower level. There are dual entries into this dining space, with the kitchen/family room to the left and the entry/foyer is through the right.

Above: In the shower, the walls feature 3″ x 6″ white subway tile. The flooring is the unglazed ceramic mosaic line by Daltile. These are the 1″ hexagons in white with black mixed in to create a pattern. The grout color is in a medium gray.

Above: The outdoor patio off the kitchen/living area features the “Marvin Ultimate Swinging French Door”. The door features a wood interior with an extruded aluminum clad exterior in the “stone white” color.
