A serene and inviting lake house in Naples, Florida

Herscoe Hajjar Architects together with Lisa Kahn Designs have joined forces to design this breathtaking modern lake house in Naples, Florida. In need of a major renovation, the home features clean lines and modern furnishings within a sustainable environment. The designer infused the old with the new, adding some antiques and period reproductions in with some current design pieces. The feeling you get when you walk into this home is that of a sanctuary, with a serene color palette and inviting design. The home overlooks the water on one side, with windows integrated to maximize the views. At the back of the property, an expansive patio features native tropical plantings and a flowing swimming pool and spa. The pool seems to follow the curves of the exterior architecture.

The living room reflects a beautiful balance of symmetry. Characterized by hues of soft blues and warm wood tones that gives the space a sense of elegance. The flooring throughout the main living spaces is strand bamboo, known for its durability and eco-friendliness. The material is actually twice as hard as oak, making it the perfect choice for family living. Flanking the fireplace are stately looking urns, adding visual beauty to the space. The sleek white leather chaise and streamlined modern sofas adds further beauty to this space. An area rug helps to add texture and ground the space.

Above: What was most striking to us about this home theater was the custom designed light fixture. It is an immediate attention getter. According to the designer, it is “composed of hand-colored art glass panels inside an iron framework.” Iron wall sconces illuminate the walls along the side of the theater. The wall panels and ceiling are comprised of anigre wood. They alternate with fabric for sound absorption. This helps to keep the acoustics perfectly tuned in any seat you sit in!

Above: The master bathroom is a true oasis. With Calcutta marble floors and a freestanding tub complimented by a piece of petrified wood, adding organic, raw beauty to the space. Dual vanities feature Calcutta marble countertops. Suspended from the ceiling is an antique Parisian chandelier.
