Lake Bluff Lodge is a breathtaking modern-rustic home designed and built by Modern Rustic Homes, located on the Blue Ridge Lake in Georgia. The homeowners requested their home to be built with craftsman touches, designed for entertaining and comfortable living. The 4,049 square foot dwelling is located on a deeply sloped site, presenting its own challenges.

The completed design maximizes the views of the lake from every room through extensive windows. The interior palette uses materials, colors, and textures to infuse a modern touch to the craftsman details. The requirement was to keep the details simple, yet very comfortable.

At 20 feet by 20 feet, this great room is ultra-spacious—especially with its soaring 18-foot high, vaulted ceilings. The ceiling features rough-sawn planks and elegant arched collar ties. These material elements infuse a subtle craftsman aesthetic that compliments the clean lines of this magnificent space.

The focal point is the dramatic fireplace, designed to showcase the stone. According to the architects, the stone was applied with, “the grain vertically to the left and right and horizontally in the middle. The same material was used with a chiseled edge as a spacer between tiles to add texture and pattern.”

What We Love: Lake Bluff Lodge boasts spectacular views of the lake from every room and with its fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, we can’t think of anything we don’t love about this home. A home office on the second level boasts built-in, shaker-style bookcases and a desk area. A heavy time frame ceiling once again showcases the fine craftsmanship applied throughout this home.

A young boy’s bedroom features natural and neutral materials, giving this Western-inspired space a modern aesthetic. A fun feature was added to this space, a built-in ship ladder, which leads up to a play loft. An additional benefit to the ladder is the built-out storage for clothes.

The master bedroom offers its own private deck with mesmerizing lake views. The platform bed features a headboard comprised of hand-hewn log siding. Across from the bed is a beautiful fireplace clad with natural slate stone. The ceiling adds texture to the space with its heavy timber frame beams.

The game room features a built-in bar comprised of rustic cherry wood with a matte finish. Stone walls add to the rusticity of the space.

Sleeping up to six in this bunk room, triple-tier bunk beds make full use of the space. Each bed offers task lighting, electrical outlets, and even a shelf to house your iPad or some good novels. Eight-foot-high barn doors add to the fine details of this space.
