This extremely spacious one bedroom apartment was decorated with personality and retro treasures by studio Atelier HR, located in central Madrid, Spain. Material and design selections reference the past, although everything emanates with a contemporary air. An upward trend can be witnessed in recovered pieces of retro style furnishings that adapts to the needs of the XXI century. The finishing result is a grounded home showcasing a warm and inviting atmosphere that encompasses high ceilings with painted white trim. There is also a noteworthy library, designed as an interior courtyard and vital center of the dwelling. The originality to the design is displayed in the use of furnishings, with the most exceptional pieces having been acquired at the famous Flea Market in Paris.

The white washed walls, ceiling and doors in the living room illuminates the home in brightness. Ornate molding on the walls and ceilings adds period character to the home. The molding on the walls also acts as a unique framework for colorful paintings that are on display.

Throughout most of the home you will find Nordic wood flooring, which adds warmth to the interiors. In the library and in one of the bathrooms, the designers have chosen to use a beautiful graphic print tile, which gives a fresh and stylish appearance to the floor, as seen in the image above. In this space, making reference to the past seems to be very trendy.

The home has plenty of charming qualities, with this library being no exception. With floor to ceiling windows and an interior partitioned wall of factory glass, this space is brimming in natural light. The space offers an industrial feel, with all the dark metal and industrial style furnishings. Rows of wall to wall bookshelves provides the homeowners with a space for relaxation and reading.

The kitchen is the only space in the home that has separated itself from tradition, showcasing a refined style of clean lines. As a stark contrast to the white cabinetry, the ceiling has been painted black. Two striking elements highlight this space, the caged ceiling lamp and the black and white mural on the wall of the Eiffel Tower.
