A modern rustic chalet was designed by architecture and design studio Les Ensembliers for a family of four who have a passion for the outdoors, located in Mont-Tremblant, a city in the Laurentian mountains of Quebec, Canada. The home was created as a relaxing winter getaway, inspired by the wooden ski lodges in Megève, France. Wood flooring adds warmth through the spaces, while cozy furnishings makes you want to curl up and read a good book. The designer for the project, Richard Ouellette came to the project wanting to create balance throughout the interior living spaces. The floating staircase has a modern aesthetic that is softened by wrapping all the oak tread with a warm, plush carpeting. Eye-catching artwork from the homeowner’s extensive collection can be seen throughout, infusing personality.
The central hallway is loaded with warmth from the custom designed oak bookcase that matches the height of the windows, illuminating the area with natural light. A reclaimed wood table adds a touch of rusticity and also provides functional space when the homeowner’s entertain. The table can be used as a buffet and as a bar, a great multi-purpose item!
What We Love: The magnificent forested site that this chalet is nestled on provides a relaxing place to really enjoy a winter family vacation, especially for those who enjoy nature. Between the open layout, the warmth of the wood elements throughout and the textures of the fabrics and finishes, this luxe-getaway is an oasis that we would love to call home! How about you, what do you think of this modern rustic chalet, would this be your ideal winter retreat?
A symmetrically styled living room provides a cozy space to warm up by the fire, enjoy conversation with family and friends and relax… and so you should, this is a vacation home after all!
A diamond-patterned area rug helps to connect the living and dining room spaces, creating a nice flow and some plushness underfoot.
The gourmet kitchen is conveniently located next to the dining room, with an open layout, it makes entertaining a breeze. An extensive center island makes it easy to cook up large meals for dinner parties or to enjoy a cocktail while conversing with the chef.
Expansive windows throughout the home helps to capture the beautiful scenery of the exterior landscape, making it art in of itself.
In the master bedroom its all about the view… and that view is spectacular don’t you think?
In the en-suite master bathroom, a double-sided fireplace delineates the space and although minimal, this is offset by expansive windows and colorful works of art. Slate flooring and a floating wooden vanity provides the space with clean lines and minimal detailing, allowing the view through the window to take center stage.
