2. Layer Natural Textures

Incorporate woven materials such as rattan, wicker, jute, and linen. These textures add warmth and visual interest without overwhelming a small space. This sunroom addition of a cottage in Maine is where happy memories are created, of time spent with family and friends. The sunroom space was originally a screened-in porch that the homeowner wanted to enclose, making it an extension of the home and usable year-round. Lots of windows, comfortable furniture, and antique pieces, like the horse bicycle-turned side table, make the space feel unique, comfortable, and inviting year-round. The homeowner’s beautiful antiques and original artworks were woven into the interior design. (via Collaborative Interior Design)
3. Try a Neutral Rug

A soft area rug helps define the space and adds warmth underfoot. Choose subtle patterns or natural fibers to maintain an airy look. The rug in this Cape Cod sunroom is an antique oushak rug sourced at High Point. It is from J&D Oriental Rugs. It is small (4 x 8) and layered over a jute rug. It has the most beautiful, subtle, worn-out pattern, color, and texture. The chairs are from Restoration Hardware, while the sofa is from Boston Interiors.
On the sofa, the fabric for the pillows was found at a flea market. They are vintage grain sacks, so beautiful and durable, and they add a great element to any space. The lamp is from a local antique shop. The window treatments are from a company on the Cape called Bass River Blinds. They are a woven blind that we lined with a blackout liner. The wall color is Benjamin Moore Super White flat, and the trim is the same in semi-gloss. The windows and doors are Marvin. They are available with screens. This slider goes out to a screened-in porch, so no screen was needed. (via Kelly McGuill Home)

Warm, sandy creams and soft grays were layered to create a casual, monochromatic palette that lends itself to a more subdued, eclectic vibe and a truly relaxed atmosphere.
A whole jungle worth of plants was also incorporated into the design! Plants are the best way to bring life into your home. Not only do plants beautify your space, but they also have some pretty wonderful health benefits. All upholstery, pillows, and window treatments are custom-made. The coral linen print valence with tape trim adds color and interest to the room, which is adjacent to the dining room, which has coral chairs. The color palette was kept light, with an airy, feminine sofa in pale blue and white chevron, and large floral pillows with bold fringe trim. As this is a conversation area, an aqua blue tufted armchair and a coral geometric upholstered bench were added for extra seating. The handmade wood pedestal table and the rattan barrel table are space savers. We chose a carved wood table lamp and a brass standing lamp for reading. (via
16. Let the Light Shine
