This gorgeous mountain house, designed by Project Plus Architects in collaboration with Ridgeline Construction Group, is perched high atop Caesars Head in the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina. Established in the 19th century, the Caesar’s Head community has a storied past. The original wellness hotel and its dependencies have since burned and no longer exist, but several of the quaint historic cabins in the neighborhood still stand.
The project team was tasked with the challenge of creating a new construction residence that aligned with the surrounding historic vernacular while still meeting the homeowner’s square footage and more modern aesthetic goals. Continue below to see more of this spectacular house tour…

The view from this piece of property is outstanding, so the team focused on capturing its beauty in every living and bedroom space. The project is riddled with the same sentiment in the interior: rustic finishes combined with modern brutalist detailing, creating a wonderful juxtaposition throughout.

The interior designers of this project focused on keeping much of the built environment natural in tone and texture while introducing a variety of colors through textiles and art.

This 4,000 square foot single-family residence features tree trunk columns, reclaimed wood throughout, mountain laurel twig railings, and a slide that connects the upper porch to the lower. In the living room, the ceiling light fixture was sourced from Ironware International.

What We Love About This Home
This mountain house perched on Caesars Head is surrounded by a beautiful forest with wooden decks and expansive views that create a seamless connection to nature. Designed for both quiet moments and relaxed gatherings, the home invites you to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons. We are loving the overall design of this home, from the curated mix of new and antique furnishings that adds depth and character to the barnwood walls, which enhance the home’s warm, cozy atmosphere.

Above: This mountain house living room balances the barnwood interior with a healthy dose of color. The wall sconce was sourced from Urban Electric Co. The green chair is from Hollywood At Home.

Above: This antique kilim sofa was sourced from George Smith Furniture. The artwork on the way is by abstract artist Rey Alfonso.

Above: Originally a storage space, the interior designers reinvented this room to be the perfect kids’ hangout. Equipped with queen-size beds on both levels, each bunk has its own storage shelf and night light. Ideal for sleepovers, bedtime stories, or maximizing every square foot.

Above: There are three different bar areas in this house, but this one happens to fall in the heart of the entertainment area. Beyond the doors, you will find various outdoor lounge spaces, a fire pit, a putting green, and the exit to a real-life adult slide that wraps around the two porches. The designers wanted this space to be playful yet sophisticated, so in came pattern play, spunky color choices, and funky art.
