Set in the rolling hills of Wilmington, Vermont, this rustic Colonial homestead was designed by Roots Architecture + Design in collaboration with JPH Building Inc., as a fresh take on a classic New England farmstead. With meadows, forests, and mountains all around, the home was designed to feel as if it had developed naturally over the years.
At the center of the property is a symmetrical Colonial building with clapboard siding, evenly spaced windows, a central chimney, and a welcoming front door painted in a gentle, traditional color. Instead of being a single large structure, the home is composed of several connected sections, including barn-like wings with reclaimed-wood and metal roofs. This creates a timeless home that honors Vermont’s farming history while using modern building methods.

Inside, the home blends rustic charm with simple, elegant details. There are exposed wood beams, wide-plank floors, and custom woodwork that add a genuine feel. Big windows let in lots of natural light and frame views of the changing scenery. Each room feels cozy but still connected, giving the sense that the house expanded gradually.
