McBride Architects designed this cedar and concrete home that was prefabricated in Pennsylvania by Method Homes and assembled on site in just 24 hours, nestled on a secluded hillside in the Berkshires, Mount Washington, Massachusetts. Step inside the interior to find concrete floors, an open teak kitchen, and a floating steel and wood staircase, all emphasized by expansive walls of glass sliding doors and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

This 4,368-square-foot residence offers four bedrooms and four bathrooms, providing a perfect retreat for the owners and their two adult children to immerse in nature. This home was completed on a relatively modest budget by New York standards. Continue below to see the rest of this sensational home…

Originally, the architects’ design exceeded the couple’s budget. However, opting for a prefab structure reduced costs by 26% compared to a traditional build. The home was fabricated in Pennsylvania and assembled in just 24 hours. Made up of five boxes, it retains a refined, tailored feel. From the front facade, the children’s wing encompasses the left side of the home, the staircase is positioned in the center, and the main living spaces — living, dining, and kitchen are on the right side.

What We Love: This modern house offers its inhabitants a feeling of seclusion, surrounded by dense forest. We love how the development of this prefab home gave the owners a more budget-minded option to provide them with their dream house in the woods. The interior palette inspired by fall colors gives this home a feeling of serenity and the bedroom with its treetop views is just fabulous. We also love the staircase design, separating the two wings of the home while providing a visually attractive aesthetic in the great room.
